FROM SEPTEMBER, young people and children in County Galway will have access to two new Music Hubs – one in Ballinasloe, the other in Clifden.
The hubs are run by Music Generation Galway County, part of Music Generation, Ireland’s national music education programme, initiated by Music Network and co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, the Department of Education, and Local Music Education Partnerships.
The hubs will offer affordable weekly music lessons to those aged between six and 18 delivered by Music Generation Galway County’s musician educators. Sessions are priced at €8 per week for small group instrumental tuition and €5 per week for the larger ensemble activities.
.
Instrumental tuition options include drumkit, guitar, violin, cello and flute as well as larger ensemble music-making with Samba drumming, Réalta Vocal Ensemble, and ukulele orchestra. Even if you do not have an instrument you can still take part. MGGC has a musical instrument bank with a large range of instruments available for hire.
Music Generation Galway County’s goal is to develop performance music provision county-wide and to maximise local and community involvement in its programmes. Locally, MGGC is supported by Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board, Galway County Council, Galway Rural Development, Foróige, Youth Work Ireland, FORUM Connemara, Tusla, Involve, and Ealaín na Gaeltachta.
Registration for the hubs is now open! To register email [email protected] or call 091 - 874557. Places are limited.
