Pain relief at Crane Clinic

Acupuncture which originated in China has been scientifically proven to be very effective for all types of pain relief and is now incorporated in medical protocols in hospitals and specialised pain clinics in Europe, the USA and Australia.

Acupuncture needles are placed in the body to induce an electrical response which promotes energy flow in the area of pain, promoting oxygen and blood flow to the tissue and helping to alleviate pain. It also down-regulates the pain signals going to the brain.

At the Crane Clinic, Galway, we pick up areas of pain through feeling the pulse and scanning the body. Identifying these areas of pain validates the patient’s experience of pain as very often X-Rays and MRI’s may not indicate any abnormality. This can be an enormous psychological relief for the person suffering from pain as often they may doubt themselves.

We use unique and progressive therapies along with acupuncture to achieve relief of pain such as Laser Therapy, PEMF and Ondamed therapy. We also use Electro-Acupuncture where electrodes are attached to the needles and stimulated with an electric current producing fairly immediate pain reduction.

Our patients also benefit from the traditional art of cupping to relieve muscle pain and spasm, chronic back pain, shoulder, hip pain and fibromyalgia.

Both acupuncture and laser therapy reduce trauma and shock associated with an injury or event by modulating the body’s stress response to memories associated with an accident. Addressing these traumatic memories also reduces the pain response.

Science now proves the relationship between inflammation, gut health and painful inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, migraine, fibromyalgia and neuromuscular pain. Our Nutritionist conducts an investigative consultation along with an individual nutritional regime to reduce inflammation where this is an issue.
