Galway Rape Crisis Centre allocated +€35,000 in Government funding

Funding for GRCC welcomed as 'vital and right' by Minister Hildegarde Naughton

Galway Rape Crisis Centre has been allocated more than €35,000 in Government funding to help cope with financial difficulties arising from the Covid-19 crisis.

It is one of seven charitable groups in Galway to benefit from the +€150,000 allocation under the second tranche of the Covid-19 Stability Funding programme. The other groups benefiting are Let’s Get Talking counselling and psychotherapy organisation, Cosáin mental health recovery group, Our Lady’s Boys Club, and Helplink Support Services.

The allocation has been welcomed by Fine Gael Galway West TD, and Minister of State for International and Road Transport and Logistics, Hildegarde Naughton, who described the allocation as "vital and right".

“Galway Rape Crisis Centre is a cause and an organisation that is constantly deserving of our gratitude and support,” she said. “This funding recognises its contribution and the importance of its work and will help to ensure its continued viability."

The funding allocations from the Dormant Accounts Fund will be released quickly and further tranches of cash injections will be announced shortly.
