FOUR GALWAY artists - Little John Nee, Róisín Stack, Bernadette Divilly, and James Riordan - have been awarded Arts Council Residencies for 2020 - 2021.
The residencies will allow them to work on projects across various venues in Galway City throughout the remainder of this year, and into next, and collaborate with other artists.
Bernadette Divilly is dance artist in residence at Galway Arts Centre. She will research contemplative dance practice and create an online CDP exhibition involving sound installation, performance and photography. She will also build participatory and audience access to dance through Galway Dance Project and radio/podcasts through Ballinasloe Library with support from Galway Arts Centre and the Galway city and county councils.

Little John Nee [picturted above] and Brú Theatre’s James Riordan will be the theatre artists in residence at the Town Hall Theatre. Little John Nee will create several events, including a new main-stage show, as part of an ambitious joint residency between An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny and the Town Hall Theatre, in partnership with the Galway County Arts Office and Donegal Arts Service.

James' residency will involve a physical theatre summer school; a 'remote control' artist development program; writing; and site-specific theatre making with international collaborators.

Róisín Stack [pictured above] will be the theatre artist in residence at Nun’s Island Theatre. Her residency will involve contemporary experimental theatre and feature free screenings of international work, including artist Q&As via video link, and the development of three new theatre projects.
"We’re all delighted to be given this good news at a really uncertain time for independent theatre and dance makers," said James Riordan. "I’m looking forward to developing new work, inviting communities and audiences into the Town Hall and although these times are crazy, I’m feeling a lot more positive about the year to come."
