Scoot around on two-wheeler from Skoda

Skoda tells us it has developed the perfect accessory for the owner who needs to cross the city in style - the Skoda Scooter.

It says it has been designed to allow owners to go from door to door without having to sacrifice style or innovation, and that the new scooter is another example of the brand’s passion for micro-mobility.

Of course, history tells us Skoda knows a thing or two about building clever two wheelers. Founders Laurin and Klement started the brand with innovative bicycles before turning their design skills to cars. And, Skoda boasts, that as buyers have come to expect from the brand, this new Scooter features a clever twist on the standard design.

The Czech carmaker (part of the Volkswagen Group ) says thanks to a patented folding mechanism, the Skoda Scooter can be folded up in a few simple steps. Collapsed, it measures just 49×42×11cm and fits into the spare wheel well under the boot floor of the Scala and Kamiq (when fitted with a breakdown kit ). This means the entire volume of the boot remains free for transporting luggage and shopping.

It adds that unlike many scooters, the Skoda Scooter has been designed for adult use and has a weight capacity of 100kg. The frame is made from hard-wearing steel and aluminium and finished in black with Skoda green highlights on the wheels and handlebar grips.

Skoda claims that high-quality bearings and wheels in polyurethane guarantee an equally fast and comfortable riding experience. Despite its solid construction, the Scooter weighs just 5kg, making it easy to carry on public transport or into offices.

The Skoda Scooter should be available as an accessory through retailers and is priced at €202 including VAT and can be ordered now.
