There was some good news for the arts in Galway this week with nine arts projects in the county set to benefit from the Creative Ireland Bursary Programme.
The projects to benefit are: This Place, with Galway Dance Project; Frank – The Man with the Camera with Merchants Gate Films and Milltown Heritage Group; Ballinderreen Sketching with Ballinderreen Ciorcal Cómhrá and Ballinderreen Community Centre; Headford Bobbin Beats with Headford Lace, Drumadore Drum School and Claran Theatre; Carrying the Songs with Interface Inagh and Alannah Robbins; Paper Dreams with Phillida Eves and Scoil Speisialta Tigh Nan Dooley; Le Chéile with Galway Traditional Orchestra; Ó Ghlúin go Glúin with Ionad Oidhreachta Leitir Mealláin and Scoil Náisiúnta Leitir Mealláin; and Glenamaddy Diaspora Festival with Glenamaddy Boyounagh Heritage Project.
The Creative Ireland programme is a Government legacy programme for the 2017-2022 period, and which is administered for County Galway by the Galway County Council.
The bursary programme assists local, community, and cultural organisations to work with visual artists, musicians, theatre practitioners, dancers, filmmakers, storytellers, craft and heritage practitioners. It also provides support to artists in the county, who have been hugely impacted as a result of Covid-19 Pandemic.
