What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Lying on the grass in the sunshine.

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

Mmhh..

Which living person do you most admire?

My granny, who is 98 this week. All the tough times she lived through didn’t take away her joie de vivre.

Which is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

I wish I was more patient.

What is your greatest extravagance?

I don’t drink coffee (and I’m Italian! ).

What is your favourite journey?

The journey back to Ireland after having been abroad.

On what occasion do you lie?

Only when it’s needed.

Which living person do you most despise?

Is there anybody worst than Donal Trump...?

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

My daughter Anna.

When and where were you happiest?

Laughing with my daughter, anytime, anywhere.

Which talent would you most like to have?

To be a good singer.

What is your current state of mind?

Suspended.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Being happy in myself.

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what do you think it would be?

A bird.

What is your most treasured possession?

Old family objects and photos.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

A rainy summer.

What is your favourite occupation?

Eating good food, reading a good book, watching a good play/movie/art exhibition.

What is the quality you most like in a man?

Reliability.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

Being at ease in her own skin.

Who are your favourite writers?

Uhm, too many.. at the moment I’m loving Leanne Moriarty.

What is your motto?

Everything is going to be alright.

Manuela is a film and theatre maker and lectures in GMIT in the Film and Documentary course. She has directed and edited documentaries and short films. As director of A Little Door she creates theatre for children.
