Saturday night comedy...and some of it live from the Róisín Dubh

Joe Rooney, Enya Martin, Karl Spain and Galway comics via Zoom to your room

JOE ROONEY, a legend of Irish comedy; Enya Martin, internet sensation turned stage sensation; and a host of Galway comics will be performing for your pleasure this Saturday.

The Róisín Dubh Comedy KARLnival takes place online this Saturday, June 27, as part of the Dominick Street venue's 17th birthday celebrations.

While Joe, Enya, and MC Karl Spain, will perform from their own homes, three of Galway’s finest young comics - Amy Walsh, Ian Burke, and Siobhan Brosnan - will deliver stand-up from the stage of the Róisín Dubh. For now, it is the next best thing to being there, and one step closer to an eventual return.

The line-up

Joe Rooney is a legend of Irish comedy, best known for his roles as gurrier priest Fr Damo in Father Ted and as barfly Timmy in Killinaskully. He was voted Best Comedian at the Pure M Awards in 2017 and has headlined venues across Ireland and Britain. Chortle.co.uk said of his mix stand-up and music: “The intensity he puts into his singing and character acting is on another level. His act rolls along smoothly and nothing felt forced…great stand-up and excellent storytelling, full of gags.”

Enya Martin first came to attention via her hugely popular Giz A Laugh Facebook page. In recent years, the Dubliner has successfully made the transition from writing and creating hugely popular online videos to knocking them dead on the live comedy circuit. After +60 million online views Enya’s first comedy sketch show, Giz A Laugh Live sold out Vicar Street for three nights. Her stand up features sharp eyed observations from her madcap life.

Flying the flag for Galway will be Headford's Amy Walsh, a finalist in both the Bray Comedy Festival’s New Act competition and Galway's Show Me The Funny; Ian Burke, winner of the Cork Comedian of the Year award; and Galway based, Kerrywoman, Siobhan Brosnan, who co-runs the PaddyShack Comedy Club in Galway.
