Motor retailers involved in the sale, supply and repair of motor vehicles, including cars, vans, trucks, buses, tractors, motorcycles, bicycles, and related facilities such as tyre sales and body repairs, have been re-opening since last week.
As part of the Government’s plan to gradually re-open our economy and society, car, van and truck retailers, as well as associate businesses, such as tyre centres and motor factors, were allowed to re-open all operations from May 18 where social distancing and other Government protocols can be maintained.
The best-practice guidance should cover the entire aftermarket sector, including workshops, warehouses, mobile operations and parts distributors. It covers every aspect of their operations, including clear communications with customers and colleagues, social distancing, sanitisation and hygiene, and collection/delivery of vehicles from vulnerable owners.
The auto aftermarket sector must demonstrate safe practices for employees and customers across all points of interaction. It comes as vehicle mileages start to climb and the sector calls for an end to the closure of NCT Centres.
