Friday night's alright for laughing

Rich Hall, Mike Wilmot, and Sean Hegarty play the Friday Night Comedy KARLnival, presented by the Róisín Dubh

GALWAY'S FAVOURITE grouchiest comedy cowboy; the man who wrote Ireland's funniest joke; and a comic who put in a memorable performance in It's All Gone Pete Tong, will be live in your living room tomorrow (Friday May 29 ) evening.

Rich Hall, Mike Wilmot, and Sean Hegarty play the Friday Night Comedy KARLnival, presented by the Róisín Dubh, at 8pm. The show will be via Zoom, with two-way real-time engagement to make it feel just like a real comedy club - you will be able to hear the sound of laughter and interact. It is not the real thing, but is a great substitute during the lockdown.

Rich Hall, the original inspiration for Moe Szyslak in The Simpsons, has won critical acclaim for his deadpan style, absurdist irony, rapid-fire wit, and growling indignation. The Perrier Award-winning Montana native is renowned for his expertly crafted tirades, quick fire banter with audiences, and witty musical sequences.

Toronto's Mike Wilmot has appeared multiple times at Just For Laughs in Montreal, as well as at festivals in Ireland, Scandinavia, Paris, Amsterdam, Asia, South Africa, and Melbourne – where he won that comedy festival’s Barry Award in 2003. He also won an acting award for his memorable appearance in the movie It’s All Gone Pete Tong.

An inspired one-liner comedian, Sean Hegarty wowed the judges on Ireland's Got Talent and made it to the live semi final. He also won Ireland's Funniest Joke competition with a pun about pizza. He has written for the BBC, including Monumental and online series Tight Shorts. His comedy has attracted more than 70,000 fans on social media, and he has enjoyed sold-out shows across the country.

The ticket gives access to the show on one device only and will not be streamed live on Facebook. Spaces are limited. Tickets are €10 (plus fees ) via www.eventbrite.ie/e/friday-comedy-karlnival-online-tickets-106140611426
