Larger school building is needed to accommodate Moycullen's growing population

Contracts to appoint a design team for a proposed new, larger school building, with upgraded facilities, to accommodate Moycullen's growing population, have been appointed.

The contracts were issued by the Department of Education on Friday last. The team, which will include an architect, a quantity surveyor, engineers, and a project supervisor, will progress the project which is included in the Department’s Construction Programme.

Once appointed, the design team will begin work on aspects such as a site report, and initial sketch schemes, for the new school. The topography survey to determine natural and artificial features of the site, as it is now, is already complete.

The news has been welcomed by Aire don Ghaeilge, don Ghaeltacht, agus na hOileáin, Seán Kyne. “The Moycullen project is one of 18 school building projects on the Department’s ADAPT 2, Accelerated Delivery of Architectural Planning & Tendering Programme," he said, "which is being overseen by a designated project manager."
