THE CORONAVIRUS lockdown has placed huge restrictions on our movements and ceased our social gatherings for the time being, but it has not dented our creativity.
Online technology has proven vital to maintaining contact and as a creative outlet. It is not surprising then that a new series of creative writing classes from the poet Kevin Higgins, and the short story writer and poet, Susan Millar DuMars, are going online for the lockdown.
Kevin Higgins will lead classes for complete beginners and those who have been writing for some time, on Tuesdays (7pm-8.30pm, starting May 12 ) and Fridays (2pm-3.30pm, starting May 16 ). An Advanced Poetry Workshop, for those who have participated in such workshops before, or have had poems published, is on Thursdays (2pm to 4pm, starting May 14 ). Each course costs €110.
Susan Millar DuMars' course, Finding The Words, will cover fiction, poetry, and memoir, and is for all levels of experience. It is on Tuesdays from 2.30pm to 5pm, but Susan will also be available for 'office hours' via group Skype, for interested students, every second Tuesday from 4.30pm-5.30pm. The cost is €100 via PayPal. Early booking is advised as numbers are limited.
All workshops run for 10 weeks and will be conducted via private Facebook group and group email. Places must be paid for in advance. To book go to https://overtheedgeliteraryevents.blogspot.com.
