Daithí releases new self-isolation single

'AN IRISH Goodbye', the new single from composer, violinist, and producer Daithí is being described as the 'first Irish single written and recorded in self isolation'.

Underground musicians Loner Deluxe and A Lilac Decline may be able to make a similar claim over their recent release 'Viral Hit', but what is not in doubt is that Daithí made and recorded this track in a week in his home studio in front of a live-stream audience - demonstrating the extraordinary creativity musicians are adapting to the coronavirus lockdown, and the ability they still have to create a sense of community and communication in spite of avoidance we all currently need to proactive.

The track features contributions from the violinist Clare Sands, and regular Daithí collaborator Sinead White, who sent their parts over email while watching the stream. The stream can be rewatched on Daithí's YouTube channel, and it gives a fascinating insight into the artist's creative process. The track itself is a delight, mixing wistful Celtic airs over mellow, yet insistent, beats.
