Music for Galway's CELLISSIMO festival moved to next year

Festival will now take place in 2021, meanwhile annual Good Friday concert cancelled

GALWAY CITY'S new festival, CELLISSIMO, a celebration of the cello, and which was to have its first outing between April and May, has been postponed.

In light of the current Covid-19 situation, the board of Music for Galway, in consultation with Galway 2020, has decided to postpone the CELLISSIMO international cello festival. The festival will now take place in 2021. The exact time of year it will take place has yet to be confirmed

The Covid-19 restrictions have also forced Music for Galway to cancel its annual Good Friday concert in St Nicholas' Collegiate Church, which was due to take place on April 3.

Those who had bought tickets for the above events can avail of a full refund; hold onto their ticket for the rescheduled events; or donate the value of one or more of the tickets to Music for Galway. People are advised to contact their point of sale to organise their chosen option. See www.musicforgalway.ie
