The Twelve launches drive-through takeaway and #feedtheheroes initiative

Hotel offers free food to emergency first responders

The team at The Twelve Hotel in Barna are making the very best of the hand they have been dealt right now. Since they closed the hotel's restaurants yesterday, they are busy working to try to continue to support their network of local growers and suppliers, keeping a handful of jobs going, and being responsive to the needs of the community.

Today the hotel has introduced an extensive drive-through takeaway service so you can continue to enjoy a little flavour of The Twelve at home. As part of that service, they are also offering to #feedtheheroes with complimentary pizza from Pizza Dozzina at the hotel, or a healthy spinach frittata, to all local first responders — the gardaí, fire brigade, medical personnel, and all other emergency staff on duty.

“It was with a heavy heart that we made the difficult decision to close our restaurants to the public,” said Fergus O’Halloran, general manager of The Twelve. “Yesterday was a tough one — it was actually surreal. It does hurt to have to watch our incredible team walk away, but it is in the interests of their health and everyone’s health.

"We thank our wonderful customers for their continued support and kind words of encouragement. But most important, to our treasured employees — we are family and we wish you strength, love, and compassion during this time.

"In the meantime, until we are all back together again, we are offering an edited highlights of some of the food from The Twelve, which we hope helps keep spirits up. We look forward to feeding some of our amazing first responders from our drive-through too, and the bakery at The Twelve will be delighted to deliver at no charge to any vulnerable person in the vicinity.”

To use the drive-through takeaway at The Twelve, just call the hotel on 091 597011 to order, pay over the phone with a credit or debit card (first responders just show your ID at pickup ), when you arrive to collect call again to let them know you are outside, and staff will pop your tasty food in your car boot. Enjoy delicious food from The Twelve in the comfort of your own home with as little unnecessary contact as possible.
