Galway 2020 - postponed and cancelled events

Galway 2020, in conjunction with cultural partners and artists, have reviewed all events up to March 29

A MAJORITY of events scheduled as part of Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture have been postponed owing to coronavirus restrictions, although a small number of events have been cancelled.

Galway 2020, in conjunction its our cultural partners and artists, have reviewed all events scheduled up to March 29 in line with the guidance issued by the Government in relation to new measures to contain Covid-19.

Events which have been cancelled are: Savage Beauty by Kari Kola (which is now an online exhibition, see separate article ); Branar’s Sruth Na Teanga; Home Truths: Domestic Violence Response exhibition at the Engage Studios, Salthill; and the Galway Theatre Festival launch event, Interaction.

Postponed Galway 2020 events

The Deepest Shade of Green - West of Sumer, Saolta Arts launch and talk; Northern Peripheries, Galway Stories Through A Lens, Galway Film Centre in association with Screen Talent Europe; West Words, Apeirogon, Galway Public Libraries, Comhaltas event, Moycullen (was to have taken place on St Patrick’s Day ); Livefeed, Loughrea; Laurie Anderson, To The Moon; Onside and National Football Exhibition, FAI; TULCA - Threads; Immersive Classroom, NUIG; Reimagine Loughrea, Irish Architecture Foundation; Buzzing, Kiltiernan National School.

In a statement, Galway 2020 said that while it was “extremely disappointed to have made these decisions, public health is our number one priority and we must follow Government advice”. Dates for postponed events will follow.
