Claregalway claimed this year’s All Ireland u-16 girls’ basketball crown with a merited 20-point victory over Glanmire of Cork at the weekend.
Having cruised through the weekend’s qualifiers unbeaten, recording 41-16 and 66-21 results, Claregalway ousted their semi-final opponents in a much tighter affair, finally coming through 62-53 winners to reach the final.
Confident entering the final, Claregalway ran into a 12-point lead early in the game and never lost this advantage, eventually running out winners by 58 - 36.
