CONTROVERSIAL AND acclaimed, Reginald D Hunter returns to the Róisín Dubh this month for a show which will also see a set from the 83-year-old comedian Lynn Ruth Miller.
Hunter, described by The Times as "a masterful, playful comic [who] gets more into his 50-minutes than some comics manage in their career", headlines the Dominick Street venue on Sunday March 22 at 8pm.
Engaging, brutally honest, and provocative, Hunter is one of the few performers to have been nominated for the highly coveted main Perrier Award in three consecutive years. He has appeared on Have I Got News For You and 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and he won much praise for his BBC TV series, Reginald D Hunter’s Songs Of The South and Reginald D Hunter’s Songs Of The Border, both of which documented the growth of American popular song.
Dubbed the 'new Joan Rivers of Fringe Comedy' at The Edinburgh International Fringe, Lynn Ruth Miller is currently the oldest performing stand-up female comedian on both sides of the Atlantic, winning acclaim for her mix of storytelling, cabaret, and stand-up.
Miller, who began comedy at 71, is a regular at the San Francisco Punchline, The Stand in Scotland, and The International in Dublin. She won the People’s Choice Award at the 2009 Branson Comedy Festival and won both nights of the Texas Burlesque Festival without taking anything off.
The MC will be the Mayo born, Galway based comedian, Bob Hennigan. Tickets are available from www.roisindubh.net; OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; and the Róisín Dubh.
