Caprice serves dishes fit for kings!

This Thursday, Galway will be welcoming the arrival of the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge.

It is a special day for the city as the Royals will visit the European Capital of Culture for 2020, however, for Head Chef & Owner of Caprice on Market Street John Casey, it brings back memories of another Royal encounter in the 1990’s while living and working at his craft in London close to where HRH Princess Diana lived and often frequented local high end Restaurants for lunch and dinner.

On this one occasion “Diana visited the La Tante Claire in Chelsea, it was a particularly warm day out and the head waiter came into the kitchen and advised me of our lunch guest along with her security” My Head Chef at the time was away that day singing copies of his new book! To say he was upset to miss our special guest was an understatement.

She would like the Lamb Dish but with a special salad instead. I was so young and nervous but did a lovely dish which Diana subsequently came back a number of occasions and requested I make for her. This was one of the highlights of my time in London at that time.

Weather Prince William & Kate decides to eat at Caprice on Thursday remains to be seen but locals & tourists alike can call in for a wide selection of delicious dishes for Breakfast Lunch Brunch or Dinner this week.
