Galway's annual drum extravaganza returns to the Clayton Hotel on Saturday March 28 and Sunday 29

STEVE WHITE, drummer for Paul Weller between the Modfather's 1992 solo debut album and 2006's Catch-Flame! and the drummer in Weller's post-Jam band, The Style Council, is coming to Galway.

Steve will be among the special guests at The Galway Drum Show 2020 - the largest such event in Ireland - which takes place at the Clayton Hotel on Saturday March 28 and Sunday 29. Following his work with Paul Weller, Steve was drummer for The Who at Live8, and he also worked with Ian Dury, The James Taylor Quartet, and the Jazz Renegades.

Also performing at the event will be award winning British jazz drummer, Clark Tracey, who has worked with Pharoah Sanders; Marco Minnemann, who has worked with Joe Satriani; Scott Pellegrom, a multiple industry award winner and a Top Four Finalist in the Guitar Center Drum-Off, the largest drum competition in the world; Kaz Rodriguez, who has worked with Cirque du Soleil; and German drummer, Anika Nilles.

The Galway Drum Show is the creation of John Tierney, founder of the Rhythm Drum School, which is now the Trinity College London Drum Kit specialist examination centre for Ireland.

A highlight of the two-day event will be the final of the Young Irish Drummer of the year competition from 10am to 2pm on Sunday 29. There will also be masterclasses (March 28, 9.30am - 6pm ) which must be applied for via [email protected], as well as live performances, product demonstrations, and exhibits, where the public will be able to meet experts and try out equipment.
