As someone who works in an office where the need for plug sockets is always in high demand, the likelihood of finding a free one is pretty low, meaning if my phone battery is starting to run low then I could be in trouble. Danish tech manufacturer for personal gadgets, Sandberg, has come up with a 3in1 Wireless Charger which removes the need for a plug socket to charge your phone while also enabling a second person to refuel his/her phone battery as well.
So what is the product?
The Sandberg 3in1 Wireless Charger enables users two charge qi-compatible smartphones and an Apple Watch at the same time, or one qi-compatible smartphone, one Apple Airpods, and one Apple watch. The charger is equipped with built-in five coils for flexible and easy wireless charge devices. It comes with a uniquely designed stand to use with the original Apple Watch charger and has a five year warranty.
My experience
One of the big frustrations that many will encounter when using a wireless charger is that it can be very difficult to find the 'sweet spot' whereby the user has to keep turning and twisting the phone until it connects and starts charging. The Sandberg 3in1 Wireless Charger has five coils which means it is very easy to connect the phone because the 'sweet spot' on the plate is bigger and the blue power light on the charger will turn green to inform the user that it is charging.
What I really like about Sandberg's charger is its charging flexible area. This allows the phone to charge in any position as long as it is connected to one of the five coils whereas with other wireless chargers, any adjustment in its position will see it knocked off its connection. So it is ideal if you are working on your laptop and need to flick back and forth to your phone.
With regards to charging times, it took my phone (Samsung S9 ) two hours and 11 minutes to charge to 100 per cent from zero from the 7.5-10W charge. This would be slower than the fast charge provided by a Samsung plug charger so if you were in need of quick battery charge it may not be that useful, however, if you are at a desk working or taking a break from the phone then the Sandberg 3in1 Wireless Charger will do the job.
The ability to charge two phones simultaneously also comes in handy if you travel a lot and do not want the hassle of taking along extra cables and having to buy two adaptors, so there will be no fighting over sockets and who gets to charge their phone first. However, be aware your smartphone must be of a current generation for it to charge.
Aesthetically I love the charger's unusual yet stylish look - you would not guess it is a charger at first glance, especially with the metal Apple Watch stand. In my opinion it is most certainly not an eyesore and can fit in seamlessly with other knick knacks with which you have decorated your living or work space. The charger is light which means you will not be weighed down when you take it with you on business and its sleek design means it does not take up much space in your bag or briefcase.
Drawbacks
The Sandberg 3in1 Wireless Charger, ironically, comes with a cable which needs to be plugged into a electrical socket in order for it to charge your gadget. You will also need your Apple Watch's cable in order for it to charge as the metal hoop is only there as a stand, although I did think it was cool how you remove the bottom of the plate to connect the watch's wire meaning there are no stray wires.
The only other minor drawback was I received a standard European two pronged plug which is not much use in Ireland's three pronged sockets. However, any charger that has a USB port will solve that issue.
Final judgment
Overall the Sandberg 3in1 Wireless Charger does what it says on the tin and is an accessory which I would recommned.
The Sandberg 3in1 Wireless Charger is currently retailing at €65.99 and is available from https://sandberg.world/en-ie/.
