Another award for Oscars proprietor's pioneering seafood book

Oscars Seafood Bistro’s international award winning book, Sea Gastronomy Fish & Shellfish of the North Atlantic by Michael O'Meara, has been awarded in the Gourmand 25th anniversary best food publications of the past 25 years at the Paris Cookbook Fair, held at the Louvre recently.

Sea Gastronomy was published by Letterfrack-based Artisan House and has been credited as a catalyst of change towards the sustainable use of fish and shellfish throughout Ireland.

Oscars Seafood Bistro, now in its 20th year in Galway’s Westend, has always been passionate about sustainable local quality fresh seafood. Now, taking this passion further, chef proprietor of Oscars Michael O'Meara cooks with a strong emphasis on health and wellbeing, avoiding excess use of dairy, fats, and frying as a cookery method.

Dishes such as pan-steamed local hake on sweet potato hash with avocado salsa, or blackened cod cooked in habanero chilli beans, Yemenese green chilli zhoug, or proper Mexican corn fish tacos often feature on the menu.

Oscars Seafood Bistro provides excellent value dining, along with an a la carte offering the restaurant also has a two-course early bird menu available Monday to Friday from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, for just €19.50.
