Become a professional make-up artist

The International School of Make-up Artistry has been in business for more than 30 years, training adults in all areas of make-up artistry from beauty make-up to special effects.

"One of the most rewarding parts of my career is when I see students excel in the make-up industry and we are so privileged to have been part of their journey," said Katie Robinson, manager at the International School of Make-up Artistry. "Over the years we have trained students who have gone on to become managers and trainers for leading cosmetic companies, such as MAC cosmetics, Estée Lauder, Bobbi Brown and much more.

"As the qualifications received in the school are recognised worldwide this has opened up the opportunity for graduates of ours to travel and work internationally as make-up artists. Others have opened their own businesses, offering a range of make-up artistry services, and we have been very honoured to have been asked to open some of these studios.

"Others have gone on to have a career in the bridal industry, one of which is Sara Duffy. Following a move from London to Galway back in 2007, Sara took the opportunity to turn her interest in make-up into something more and undertook the ITEC qualification at the International School of Make-up Artistry. Sara was a fabulous student and I was delighted to take her on work experience to a bridal make-up party as this is the area I knew she wanted to excel in. This led to a freelance career over the last 10 years for Sara, that has seen her specialise in bridal make-up as well as make-up for special occasions, hen parties, lessons, and masterclasses.

"In order to continue to service the demand for freelance and mobile make-up and tan, Sara took on a team of make-up artists at the beginning of 2020 and is now able to service a wider geographic area. We were delighted that Sara took on other graduates from the International School of Make-up Artistry, from a variety of different years, to become part of her team. Sara thoroughly enjoys providing mobile make-up and tanning services and feels so lucky to be able to call her passion her job, and this is what makes our job as trainers so worthwhile, to enable people have the career of their dreams. We couldn’t recommend Sara enough and are so proud of her."
