County councillor lashes TII over road delays caused by flooding

Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII ) is useless when it comes to dealing with flooding on national roads in the county, that is according to Galway county councillor Jim Cuddy.

The independent councillor’s comments come after motorists travelling from Tuam to Galway were involved in two hour traffic jams due to roads issues in Claregalway.

Cllr Cuddy told the chamber at County Hall on Monday; “I think TII are useless. I think they should be abandoned altogether. They have no idea what is going on on the ground.

“TII are accountable to no one. The Minister for Transport [Shane Ross] must get involved. There is too much passing the buck. [TII] just don’t give a damn.

“[We] Cannot accept the shabby way TII are going about their business. They have to get their act together. I have no confidence in them whatsoever at the moment.”
