Opera and theatre at the Pálás

Agrippina, The Cherry Orchard, Romeo and Juliet, Lucian Freud...

AGRIPPINA LIVE from New York, The Cherry Orchard live from the Black Box Theatre, and an exhibition of Lucien Freud will all be seen on the big screens at the Pálás Cinema.

Agrippina will be broadcast from The Met Opera, New York, to the Pálás this Saturday at 5.55pm (encore screened on Tuesday March 10 at 12.30pm ); while Druid's production of Tom Murphy's version of Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard will be screened live on Tuesday March 5 at 7pm. Further highlights include a Met Opera production of Der Fliegende Holländer; the Royal Opera's take on Fidelio; and the Bolshoi Ballet's performance of Romeo and Juliet.

The next instalment of Exhibition on Screen focuses on Lucien Freud (Tuesday March 31, 12.30pm ). The exhibition will display more than 50 paintings, prints, and drawings. Spanning nearly seven decades, Freud's self-portraits give a fascinating insight into both his psyche and his development as a painter, as well as an engrossing study into the dynamic of ageing, from his earliest portrait in 1939 to his final one executed 64 years later.
