Further education open day at Galway Community College

Galway Community College of Further Education (GCC ) will hold its annual open day on Tuesday, March 3, from 9am to 4pm. The college extends a warm invitation to everyone — school leavers, mature students, adults considering returning to education, teachers, and parents — to go along to the open day and explore the exciting and career-focused full-time courses commencing in September.

Centrally located at Moneenageisha Junction, GCC offers Level 5 and Level 6 QQI further education courses in business, secretarial, retail pharmacy, web design, science, social care, horticulture, equine, sport, motor technology, music, theatre and film, graphic design, and exercise and fitness.

These courses are designed to allow students to progress into employment, or to progress onto further studies, by studying a Level 6 course, or to convert their QQI results into CAO points (390 maximum ) for higher education courses in institutes of technology and universities. Nationally, ITs and universities allocate places specifically for students who have completed a further education course. Completing a course can also be used to investigate a study area before committing to a degree course in this area.

While studying in GCC, students are guaranteed expert tuition, modern facilities, career guidance, student café, free parking, and a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.

At the open day on Tuesday, March 3, visitors will have an opportunity to talk to the teachers, to get career information, and help if required to apply for their preferred course. Some details will also be available on SUSI maintenance grants as well as social welfare information.

GCC is now accepting applications on all full-time day courses for the 2020/2021 academic year. For more information and to apply online see www.galwaycc.ie Email [email protected] or phone 091 755464, and keep updated on all news by following @gccfurthered on social media.
