FOLLOWING THE recent release of their eponymous debut album, Dublin trad/folk duo Varo will play two shows in County Galway this weekend.
The duo - Lucie Azconaga (France ) and Consuelo Nerea Breschi (Italy ), a fiddle and vocal duo who perform traditional Irish songs and tunes with arrangement influences from the baroque and classical traditions - play Leacdona, Lettermore, this Saturday, and The Black Gate Cultural Centre, St Francis Street, on Sunday.
Varo have been praised by Darragh Lynch of Lankum, while Hotpress said they "weave together baroque, medieval, folk and trad influences with gorgeous aplomb". They have also worked with Lisa O'Neill, Landless, Ye Vagabonds, The Morning Tree, Alasourse, and The Nomadic Piano Project.
