The water treatment plant on Inis Meain is back in production following a power outage on the island due to storm conditions.
The plant has restarted, and treated water leaving the plant is fully compliant and safe for consumption according to Irish Water.
The reservoir is currently refilling and it is estimated that customers should receive a normal water supply after 4pm today. It may take houses in higher lying areas a further two to three hours to receive a full supply.
Tim O’Connor, Irish Water said: “We would like to thank ESB Networks for prioritising power restoration works on Inis Meain. We would also like to thank our customers for their patience and cooperation while these works were being carried out.
“The water treatment plant is now fully operational and customers should receive a normal supply of water by this evening or tonight at the latest. Any customer who continues to experience a water outage later tonight should report it to the Irish Water customer care helpline on 1850 278 278.”
Irish Water and the Galway County Council thank customers for implementing conservations measures during this power outage.
