Feng shui, also known as Chinese geomancy, is a traditional practice originating in ancient China that aims to ensure that people live in harmony with their surroundings. Although we might not have full control over all of our surroundings, we do have full control over the furniture we choose to surround ourselves with. Below, EZ Living Furniture has put together some simple tips on how to arrange objects, space, and décor in order to achieve more harmony and balance in your life. Here are three EZ tips to get you started.
Start at the start
Your front door is the entry point of energy, so you should start here when assessing your home's feng shui. In order to give your home the energy it deserves, make sure there is nothing accumulating at the front door such as hurleys and football boots. The door does not need to be decoration free but the easier it is to access, the better the energy you will attract.
Be selective about your selection (of art )
When our words fail, it is often our art that speaks for us. When selecting artwork for your home make sure it is of positive nature. It is important to avoid art that may have negative connotations or an upsetting history for you. It is also advised that you hang your artwork at either eye level or above. When our artwork is hanging too low, this can often result in low energy or mood. It is also OK to take down art if it is not serving its purpose like it once did.
Command your bed, command your life
We spend one third of our lives asleep and yet we do not give it the importance it both needs and deserves. According to feng shui principles, the bed is the most important piece of furniture in your home as it represents you. The best place you can position your bed is in the “commanding position”. The commanding position results in your bed facing the door but not directly in line with it. In fact, your bed should be diagonal to the door. When you are in the commanding position, you are in command of your life. You are now giving yourself the power to receive positive opportunities and energy.
