Sylane launches new fundraising initiative

Sylane Hurling & Camogie Club, one of the youngest in the county, is unveiling ambitious fundraising plans tomorrow to continue its ground development.

The clubhouse is currently undergoing a complete overhaul and extension to meet the demands of this growing club, which accommodates youngsters from nine national schools and six secondary schools.

Building works commenced last year to update the clubhouse which, when completed this summer, will accommodate four dressing rooms, a physio room, gym, and meeting rooms.

And there is more to come with plans to build all-weather astro pitches, a community walkway, and treatment rooms.

The club's new video will be launched tomorrow to promote the new plans.

"Ultimately, Sylane Hurling & Camogie Club wants to get people involved by volunteering time or donating to the development fund. This is a community club being run and managed by volunteers - not only does it benefit the local area by encouraging a healthier lifestyle through involvement in sports, it also sets up our future generations with a top class sports facility on their doorstep," the club says.

The club was founded in the centenary year of the GAA in 1984, following Galway’s 1980 All-Ireland success. The camogie club was set up more recently in 2008.
