Galway East TD Mícheál Kitt lost his junior ministerial position in yesterday’s shake up of junior ministers, but his sister, Áine Brady, has secured a ministerial position in the Kildare North constituency.
Dep Kitt had served as a Minister of State initially for overseas development and later for local services, since he was re-elected in 2007. The Tuam native is one of seven outgoing junior ministers to be dropped in a bid to cut Government costs as part of the emergency Budget.
However Dep Áine Brady has secured a post as Minister of State for Older People and Health Promotion in the reshuffles. Dep Brady was one of two new junior ministers announced yesterday.
