Corribside Walking Club info night tonight — 20 years of walking

Cumann Siúil Cois Coiribe (Corribside Walking Club ) is celebrating 20 years of walking this year, in places ranging from the hills of Connemara to Everest Base Camp in Nepal.

Since its inception at the dawn of the millennium, its members have trekked thousands of miles and scaled hundreds of mountains right across the world, including the highest peak in every province in Ireland.

The club is a member of Mountaineering Ireland, the professional body for mountaineering in Ireland, and adheres to their policies. The Club is also a member of the Galway Sports Partnership and will be assisting at this year’s Operation Transformation Walk in Salthill this Saturday January 18.

All grades of hillwalkers are welcome and catered for. The club organises multiple trips away each year, both international and around Ireland. This coming April they will climb Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, situated in the Lake District. In September they will tackle The Dolomites in Italy.

The club holds an annual table quiz for a designated charity. This year it will be held on Thursday, February 6 in Crowes Bar, Bohermore, in aid of Cancer Care West, Inis Aoibhinn residents.
