New Year – new beginnings at GRETB

The new year means new beginnings, so now is the time to consider re-training to change career or learn a new skill. The GRETB Training Centre offers full time day, evening, and Saturday training courses and is continuously developing new options to meet the needs of learners and industry. Completing a course can offer many benefits from a personal and career perspective and can give access to new and different opportunities for the future.

GRETB Training Centre courses include the following.

IT: ECDL, CompTIA A+, CISCO – CCNA online tutor support and workshop, IT support specialist, CompTIA Network+, web authoring using Adobe Dreamweaver, Zend certified PHP engineer.

Engineering: CAD/CNC milling and turning; and oxy-acetylene, arc, MIG, and TIG welding.

Transport: Bus driving, heavy goods vehicle – rigid, HGV professional driver traineeship (artic/rigid and ADR ), delivery driver — B licence.

Traineeships: Beauty therapist, pharmacy retail counter assistant, IT support specialist, HGV professional driver traineeship (artic/rigid and ADR ).

Other: Manual and computerised payroll and bookkeeping, cleanroom packaging and environmental awareness, warehouse operative, supervisory management, skincare and eye treatments, social media for business, customer service, Start your own business, reception and clerical skills, door security and guarding skills, first aid responder, and more.

GRETB has also launched a new arboriculture apprenticeship in 2020, and the training centre plans to re-introduce the phase 2 plumbing apprenticeship later in the year.

The centre has fully equipped classrooms, IT suites, and workshops. Courses are certified and accredited by national and internationally recognised examining and professional bodies. The training centre offers literacy and numeracy support services tailored to course content.

Courses may be fully/partially funded for employees for certified programmes under the Skills To Advance initiative. This initiative provides funding for full-time and part-time employees for Level 4 and Level 5 programmes, and 70 per cent funding for Level 6 programmes provided certain criteria are met.
