Show Me The Funny comedy competition returns for 2020

Ireland's biggest and most wide reaching comedy talent search, with MC Gerry Mallon

THE YEAR has barely begin and already Donald Trump and Iran's activities are bringing World War III closer, Australia burns, climate change rolls on...we really need good reasons to laugh right now.

Show Me The Funny, Ireland's biggest and most wide reaching comedy competition, in association with Bulmers, returns to The King's Head, High Street, on Monday January 20, for the first of five consecutive heats. The special guest will be the brilliant Karl Spain. At each heat, eight would-be superstars will battle it out, hoping to make it to the grand final, where the eventual winner will garner a slot at the Comedy Tent at this year's Electric Picnic. There are also runners up prizes of festival slots and weekend tickets at other major festivals in 2020.

Previous winners and finalists have included Alison Spittle, Kevin McGahern, and Steve Bennett. "This a great opportunity for any up and coming comics, and has provided a launch pad for several, now, household names in the comedy circuit," says host and MC Gerry Mallon.

Doors are at 8pm. Admission is €5, which includes a free pint of Bulmers Cider.
