The East Galway Sports Campus has received a significant Government grant to develop its facilities.
Galway East TD and Minister for Rural Affairs Seán Canney said the campus at New Inn has been allocated funding of €749,000 for its major sports facility serving Galway East.
It will include a full-size astro turf pitch, a multi-use games area for volleyball, tennis and underage soccer, a multi-purpose training area, a ball wall for handball, racketball and hurling practice, a basketball court, a bocce playing area, new dressing rooms, new car parking and general landscaping.
Minister Canney said: "I am delighted for all involved in the campus. I met the New Inn Development Committee on a number of occasions and I want to congratulate them on achieving this substantial investment.
"This is major development that will greatly enhance sports facilities in the area."
The award has been made by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport under the Large Scale Sport Infrastructure Fund.
