The Inishbofin ferry service has been secured for the next five years after funding was secured by the Aire don Ghaeilge, don Ghaeltacht agus do na hOileáin, Seán Kyne.
The contract for the service has been awarded to Inishbofin Island Discovery Ltd following a public tender competition held by the Department of Culture, Heritage and Gaeltacht. This week a total of €1.54 million in funding was provided towards the service. According to Minister Kyne, research conducted by his department found “a high level of satisfaction with the subsidised ferry service among the island community”.
