O'Reilly sets out priorities for Election 2020 campaign

Green councillor to campaign on climate action, public transport, and cycling infrastructure

Climate action, environmental protection, providing world class sustainable public transport, and supporting increased cycling infrastructure in the city will be the chief campaign points for the Green Party's Pauline O'Reilly, at Election 2020.

Pauline O'Reilly, who was first elected to the Galway City Hall in May 2019, and who is also the party spokesperson for children and youth affairs, was this week officially selected as its Galway West candidate for the General Election, due to take place in the coming months.

'O'Reilly is planning a "monster canvass" in Galway's West End and Salthill, two areas which have seen "some of the worst impacts of climate change"'

At the event to mark the launch of Cllr O'Reilly's election campaign, Green leader, Dep Eamon Ryan, said: "Pauline has been fully engaged for over a decade in community work, including in the arts and starting a new school in Knocknacarra. She's an advocate nationally for carers. Her passion for building an Ireland where people truly matter, and where we value caring, is an inspiration to all of us."

Cllr O'Reilly said she, along with her campaign team, is planning a "monster canvass" in Galway's West End and Salthill, two areas of the city which have seen "some of the worst impacts of climate change".

She outlined that campaign priorities would be how Galway, and the State as a whole, deals with climate change; protection of the environment; increased and sustainable public transport; increased cycling infrastructure; protection of Connemara against mining; construction of greenways; and park and ride facilities.
