TWO ARTISTS, both members of the Dublin-based Experimental Film Society, join forces to present an evening of film, sound, and performance at Engage Studios, Lower Salthill.
in what will be their debut collaboration, Atoosa Pour Hosseini and Vicky Langan will give a 'live celluloid and sound performance' on Saturday January 11 at 6pm. The guest speaker will be the Booker Prize nominated author, Kevin Barry. Both artists are interested in the relationship between materiality and the psyche. For Langan, this involves the body coming into contact with raw materials and rough sound. Pour Hosseini sets 8mm and 16mm film "adrift on an ineffable current of memory".
Pour Hosseini is a visual artist and filmmaker based in Dublin. Her works are influenced by historical avant-garde cinema and explore questions about illusion, reality, and perception through the media of film, video, installation, and performance. Langan is a Cork-based artist whose practice operates across several fields, chiefly sound, performance, and film. Her work examines vulnerability, personal symbolism and unguarded emotion, with a focus on the sounds of the body and its functions.
