Winter Pride events this weekend

City to hold it's first Yuletide Pride events this weekend

PRIDE TAKES place in August, but does it have to only take place then? Galway Community Pride think not and will hold the city's first 'Winter Pride', tomorrow and Saturday.

“We’ve been thinking how we can do more for the community all year round," said the Galway Community Pride committee. “People want more Pride and more LGBT+ spaces and we want to give it to them. For these reasons, Galway will have its very own Winter Pride this December!”

Events start tomorrow [Friday December 13] in Teach Solais, Merchants Road, with a Christmas arts and crafts making session (2pm ); a Winter Tea Party at The Secret Garden, William Street West (5pm ); Féilte na Réaltaí, an event to remember those who have passed away this year, takes place at Nimmo's Pier (7pm ), with speeches and a lights display; and a table quiz in Electric, Abbeygate Street (8pm ).

On Saturday, events are in Teach Solais, starting with the Winter Pride Drop In (2pm ); an LGBT+ friendly Christmas movie screening (4pm ); and the Winter Potluck Dinner at Teach Solais (7pm ), where people can bring some homemade food, donate, or break bread together. There will also be ice skating at the Salthill ice-rink (5pm ).
