The Government has announced an investment package of €4.2 million in sports and physical activity funding, including awards for the Galway Local Sports Partnership.
The funding, totalling €52,460, was announced by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, and comes from the Dormant Accounts Fund. It is administered by Minister for Rural Affairs, and Galway East TD, Seán Canney. It will go towards youth leadership training, volunteer training, and supports for the Ballybane/Doughiska Sports and Physicial Activity Hub.
“It is great to see the Dormant Accounts Fund being used to support communities throughout Ireland,” said Minister Canney. “The funding allows Local Sports Partnerships and national governing bodies of sport and other funded bodies to invest in a whole range of initiatives, particularly those that offer greater opportunities for young people to engage in sport and physical activity.”
