Talos plays Róisín Dubh this month

Eoin French can look back on successful 2019 as he prepares for his Galway show

TALOS - aka Corkonian Eoin French - can look back on the past 12 months with pride as they have seen him grow as a musician, while his popular and critical standing have reached new heights.

Talos brings his indie/electro-pop sound back to the Róisín Dubh on Thursday December 19 at 8pm, performing songs from his albums Wild Alee and the more recent Far Out Dust, which was released in February.

Wild Alee explored themes of doubt and regret, but also discovery and wonder. Far Out Dust returned to many of those same ideas, but musically was more confident, sophisticated, and exploratory. The fact it was written and recorded in New York, Los Angeles, London, Dublin, Cork, and Reykjavik, helped in this.

“A lot of this new record was written in transit,” said French. “Being away from the safety of my home and my studio allowed me to really take the shackles off and create in a different way. It was a terrifying feeling sometimes, but it was also really rewarding.”

The critics agreed. The Irish Times called the album "captivating", while The Thin Air declared it "a massive step for French’s career; lyrically and sonically spellbinding".

Support is from Sacred Animals. Tickets are available from www.roisindubh.net; OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; and the Róisín Dubh.
