Daithi - full live show at Electric

DJ/producer to round off a successful year with show at Abbeygate Street venue

DAITHÍ IS set to cap off another year of triumphant artistic evolution, which saw the release of his superb second album, L.O.S.S., with a show at Electric next week.

In October, Daithí released L.O.S.S. via independent Galway label Strange Brew Records. An introspective, confessional, album, it seeks to make sense of the end of a long relationship, and of loss in general.

It opens with arguably Daithí's greatest song to date - ‘Take The Wheel’, with vocals by Bell X1’s Paul Noonan. An ambient soundscape, full of echoing, ghostly, drones, it is underpinned by four gently shifting, rising, falling notes, over which Noonan muses on love and Jesus.

The single 'Oranges', a break-up song by turns bitter, generous, and hurt, features an excellently judged vocal performance by Sinead White, her seeming wistfulness capturing the sense of loss and regret. "We’ve written a lot of songs together before," Daithí said about his collaborations with the singer, "but this one was much more personal, and she was nervous about saying something very personal, but scary is good sometimes.”

Daithí brings his full live show to Electric, Abbeygate Street, on Saturday December 14 at 11pm. Tickets are available from www.eventbrite.ie See also www.electricgalway.com
