Annie Keegan, Claire Mullane, Johanne Webb, and Barry Cullen are recipients of this year's bursary

DRUID THEATRE'S artist development programme, FUEL, now in its sixth year, announced on Tuesday the recipients of the 2019/2020 bursary. The selected artists are Annie Keegan, Claire Mullane, Johanne Webb, and Barry Cullen.

FUEL is a nine-month programme offering artists a ticket bursary and a small showcase bursary in addition to the paid engagement days, workshops, residency, mentoring, hot desk space, and advice.

Annie Keegan is a playwright and graduate of NUI Galway’s MA in drama and theatre. For FUEL she will develop a new piece exploring ‘workism’ and consumerism. Claire Mullane is a director and dramaturg with a BA in drama and music from University College Cork, now resident in Galway. She is working on a piece inspired by Charlotte Perkin Gilman’s short story, 'The Yellow Wallpaper'.

Johanne Webb is a director and performer based in Galway. She will develop a new performance about unconscious bias and race in Ireland. Barry Cullen is a Sligo-based actor, producer, and theatre-maker. He will draw on his extensive movement training to create a non-verbal theatre piece about the human experience.
