FOLLOWING THE release of his new single, 'Hero', and in advance of his debut album, Dublin singer-songwriter A.Smyth plays upstairs bar of the Róisín Dubh next week.
'Hero' is the sixth single Smyth has released over the last 18 months, and it is streaming on the A Breath of Fresh Eire and Easy Spotify playlists. “Hero is about the way the world is working against itself at the moment," Smyth explains. "All this crazy behaviour we’re seeing, the disconnection from one another. Underneath it all, it’s just people grasping for the things we all want – safety, security, answers. The madness being, of course, that this behaviour is causing the opposite.”
Of his previous singles, 'Second Moon' has more than 500,000 Spotfiy streams, while 'Coming Back To You' and 'Fever' were featured on Made In Chelsea. Smyth cites Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Sharon Van Etten, and Jeff Tweed as his inspirations.
A.Smyth plays the Roisín on Thursday December 5 at 8pm. Admission is €8. See www.roisindubh.net See also www.asmythmusic.com
