Finalists in the 2019 Galway Chamber Business Awards visited Shannon Airport during a networking event organised by the awards sponsor Shannon Group in conjunction with Galway Chamber. The finalists received a presentation from Mary Considine, the newly appointed Shannon Group CEO, on their commitment to growing air connectivity at Shannon. They were taken on a tour of key elements of the Shannon Group campus, included in a behind the scenes tour of the airport operation and an opportunity to learn about the Group’s €100 million investment across its three companies since established in 2014.
Welcoming the finalists to Shannon, Mary Considine, CEO, Shannon Group said: “Shannon Group is proud to once again sponsor the Galway Chamber Business Awards. These awards, which bring the business community together in a unique way, provide an invaluable opportunity for businesses to connect.
Kenny Deery, CEO of Galway Chamber spoke of the critical importance of our regional airports to economic development in the West of Ireland. He outlined he was delighted to work with colleagues in Shannon Group plc on these business awards and was proud to lead a delegation of Galway Business representatives to meet with the management team of Shannon Group.
“Our event here at Shannon was a wonderful opportunity for the finalists to network and for us to show how Shannon Group operations are helping to stimulate growth in Galway through air connectivity which allows businesses connect globally and tourists to access the Wild Atlantic Way,” he said.
“Now more than ever it is crucial that the business community explore opportunities to work together to drive business for the West of Ireland and ensure that Government, through its Project Ireland 2040 plans, delivers on its promises to drive 75% of growth in regions outside of Dublin.”
The Galway Chamber Business Awards, now in their 16th year, are the premier awards of the year for businesses across the region. The winners of each category, along with ‘Overall Business of the Year Award 2019’ and the ‘President’s Award’, will be announced at the Galway Chamber Gala Ball on Friday November 29 in the Galmont Hotel & Spa.
