Gianna Care celebrates one year open in Galway

Gianna Care pregnancy support service marked their first birthday in Galway last week offering free baked goods, literature and writing materials. The pregnancy support service was one of the first to open in Ireland in Dublin 2008 and has supported hundreds of pregnant women, new babies and their mothers since.

Their services include free pregnancy tests, ultrasound, counselling by qualified psychotherapists, access to nursing and midwife care, mother and baby groups, financial and practical aid to new mothers and are all free of charge.

Director Emma O Connell said that now more than ever, with homelessness, sexual assault and abortion on the rise in Ireland, women need its help.

“We offer everything from nappies and wipes to assistance paying for groceries and breast pumps. There is no where else women can access these services.”

The Galway office has so far provided buggies, bottles, baby clothes and maternity bags for women all over Galway this year, as well as free ultrasound for expectant mothers and post abortion support groups. Anyone requiring their services can check out their Facebook page, Instagram account or their website giannacare.ie
