Fianna Fáil TD for Galway East, Anne Rabbitte, will host a public meeting next week to discuss the rejuvenation of Athenry.
The meeting at the Raheen Woods Hotel on Nov 28, will hear from Fianna Fáil Deputy Leader Dara Calleary TD, former Senator Lorraine Higgins, Galway Chamber CEO Kenny Deery, and ISME CEO Neil McDonnell.
“Athenry has been hit with many setbacks when it comes to job creation and town rejuvenation and something needs to be done,” said Deputy Rabbitte.
“Recent plans for investment into our area have been abandonded. Apple and IDA plans, which would have seen significant investment in the region, while creating jobs and boosting the local economy, have been shelved.
“I have raised the future of Athenry repeatedly in the Dáil with the Minister for Business, Enterprise, and Innovation. Minister Humphries should outline how best her department can help Athenry,” she said.
“I am looking forward to our public meeting on November 28, bringing together business and political leaders in the west, along with valued input from those in attendence,” concluded Deputy Rabbitte.
