Jon Hopkins to play arts festival Big Top next summer

Grammy nominated producer to play Galway on July 25

Jon Hopkins, the Grammy and Mercury Prize nominated English electronic musician and producer, will play the Galway International Arts Festival Big Top in the Fisheries Field on Saturday July 25 2020.

Hopkins has won acclaim for his hypnotising and meditative electronica - incorporating elements of techno, choral, acoustic piano, and psychedelia - which explores different psychological states, and the connectivity of the mind and nature. As Billboard said, Hopkins "meticulously constructs lush, downtempo arrangements, blending digital beats and soothing ambience".

He has released five studio albums, with 2013's Immunity nominated for the Mercury Prize, while last year's Singularity received a Grammy nomination for best Dance/Electronic Album. He scored the soundtrack for the 2010 film Monsters, and he has worked with Brian Eno, King Creosote, David Holmes and Coldplay.

Hopkins' Galway show is part of his 2020 Polarity tour and is also a 'Galway International Arts Festival and Róisín Dubh persents...' event. Tickets are €39.50 and go on sale tomorrow [Friday November 22] at 9am via www.giaf.ie GIAF 2020 runs from July 13 to 26. See also www.jonhopkins.co.uk
