FRED COOKE, one of Ireland's most popular comedians, will headline a night of comedy in the Galway Bay Hotel on Wednesday November 27 at 8pm, in aid of Ability West.
The night will also see stand-up from the brilliant Gearoid Farrelly, as well as leading Galway comedians Bob Hennigan and Johnny Graham. According to Ability West’s community development officer, Michael Duke, the show will raise funds for the organisation’s Best Buddies Programme; its services in Tuam; and the ongoing capital programme which includes new builds, extensions, and refurbishments of existing buildings, as well as purchase of specialised equipment and minibuses.
Ability West has operated the Best Buddies programme for the past 10 years. It is a volunteer programme which pairs students from NUI Galway and GMIT in one-to-one friendships with a peer from Ability West.
Ability West has provided support to children and adults with an intellectual disability and commodities in Galway city and county for close to 60 years. It currently supports 600 children and adults in more than 60 centres.
