Top trends to watch out for at Medtech Rising conference

A record breaking 600 senior medtech professionals will be attending the Medtech Rising 2019 conference which takes place December 4/5 in Galway.

Hosted by Ibec’s Irish Medtech Association, Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland, the two-day Medtech Rising will see 35 speakers explore the top trends.

These include New business models - Medtech business are moving from manufacturing devices to developing solutions and an estimated 60 per cent of payments are to be tied to patient outcomes under value-based healthcare by 2020; Innovation - Medtech is the most innovative sector in Europe, engaging with key opinion leaders is critical as are ethical business practices for success; Regulatory readiness - Six months out from the EU Medical Devices Regulations deadline businesses must adapt for the biggest change in over two decades; Manufacturing the future - 80 per cent of companies said automation of manufacturing was critical to their future success but integrating technologies is a challenge; Digital Health - With sales of €15.7 billion forecast this is a key growth sector which seeks to transform healthcare.

International business leaders trave;ling to Galway include ResMed president Sleep Business Jim Hollingshead; Medtronic VP and GM care management services Sheri Dodd; and Amazon chief medical officer Maulik Majmudar.

They will share the stage with local innovators including Neurent Medical CEO and co-founder Brian Shields, and NUIG professor medical device technology, and consultant physician Derek O'Keeffe.

This event also offers networking opportunities and will recognise the success of the sector with the Irish Medtech Awards.
